Ice Cream Celebration!

(I'm Sorry!! I thought I posted this a week ago, but I left it in my draft folder by accident!)

We had an amazing week in second grade!  We had an  "ice cream"  theme these first three days to make things more fun.  We ended our week with many ice cream activities and a nice ice cream sandwich picnic.  Here are some photographs from our fun filled day!!  Enjoy your long weekend and I'll see everyone on Tuesday, September 2nd.

UMS Open House

UMS will host an Open House for all first and second graders on Tuesday, August 26th from
8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m.  This is a chance for your child to visit the classroom, see old friends, and even meet some new friends!  It is a great way to alleviate any anxiety before the first day of school.  This is a very informal event, so you are free to come and go as you please.  I will have a short scavenger hunt for your child to complete while I have a chance to meet parents.  This great event really helps make everyone excited for the first day of school!  See you then!

Curriculum Night

School is right around the corner and I have been busy getting ready for your child!  I will be holding a curriculum night on Thursday, August 21st at 6:30 p.m. in my classroom, Room 9. This is an informal event for parents to get a feel of what a day in second grade looks like. I will go over reading and writing workshop, math stations, as well as our science and social studies curriculum.  This should last no longer than 30-45 minutes and you will have an opportunity to ask questions throughout the presentation.

If you are unable to attend, please don't worry! I will send home a detailed letter during the first week of school going over all of the same information.  Enjoy the last few weeks of summer and I look forward to seeing you soon!
