Student Blogs

Today, students started working on their own blogs!  Mrs. Boucher came in to help us and show us how to navigate our blog site.  Everyone was very excited to name their blog and pick a background.  We have more work to do, but you can check your child's blog which is located on the sidebar of my blog.  Check back for an actual blog post by your child!  Here are some photographs from our lesson.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Picture Day

This is just a reminder that UMS Picture Day is this Wednesday, September 18th.  If you are interested in ordering pictures, please send your child's picture envelope and money back to school by Wednesday.  If you have any questions, please call 264-5959.

Math Stations

We have had a great time learning our math routine in Room 9.  We start our day with a mini lesson and then we have a chance for individual practice at our seats.  After that we rotate through stations.  There are four stations.

     M- Meet with the teacher

A - All by Myself

T - Technology/Activity

H - Hands on Activity

 

 

It takes the students two days to rotate through the four stations. We are still learning the routines and expectations but I was able to take a few photos from our math session earlier this week!

First Day Fun!

We had an amazing first day in second grade!!  Here are some pictures that I took to capture the excitement and fun of our day!   I know that we are going to have a fabulous year together (but hopefully it cools down soon)!!

MISTAKE!! TIME CHANGE

Oh No! I have made a mistake and I am so sorry!! The starting time for our curriculum night is 6:00 p.m. NOT 6:30..If you are able to attend, please arrive by  6:00.  I am more than happy to put the handouts from tonight in your child's home/school folder next week if that is easier!  I'm so sorry for the confusion and inconvience!

Curriculum Night

This is just a reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, August 22nd is the UMS Second Grade curriculum night.  We will have a quick presentation about a typical day is second grade looking specifically at our curriculum.  Please meet in the cafeteria at 6:30 p.m..  This shouldn't last any longer than 30 minutes and there will be an opportunity for parents to ask questions.  There is no childcare at this presentation. 

If you are unable to attend this presentation, but would like a copy of the handout, please just let me know!  I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow night!

Open House

The summer has been amazing but it is time to start thinking about school!  I want to remind everyone that the UMS second grade Open House is next Tuesday, August 27th from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.  This is a very relaxed and informal event.  You and your child can come in and see the classroom before the first day of school.  I look forward to seeing everyone then!  Enjoy the last few days of summer!
