We have an amazing class full of caring students. Someone we love was diagnosed with diabetes earlier this year and everyone has been so supportive, kind, and helpful. Because of this awesome attitude, Nurse Kelly presented everyone with blue diabetes bracelets today during our Morning Meeting. Thanks Nurse Kelly!!

Field Day at Airport Park
This is just a reminder that Monday, June 10th is our annual school trip to Airport Park. If it is rainy, we will go instead on Tuesday, June 11th. I have already sent 2 notices home, but in case you missed it, there are a few things that your child should bring.
- sneakers to particpate in the Field Day activities. They can bring flip flops, crocs, or other shoes to change into after the activities
- a sweatshirt because it can be pretty windy at Airport Park
- a waterbottle
- a towel or blanket to sit on
- a lunch if they are not buying the picnic lunch and a snack
- please apply sunscreen to your child before they come to school
Special Olympics Torch Run
The Special Olympics torch ran past UMS today. This is the first year in awhile that we haven't had a student participating in the Special Olympics so Mr. T. picked 2 second graders from each class to run with the Colchester PD. I was only able to capture a picture of one of our classmates because they ran by so quickly!
We made signs to cheer on our friends!
Here's they come! (I know it is tough to see them...)
It's blurry because they ran by SO fast!

MBS Fly Up Day!
We had an amazing visit to MBS today!! Everyone met their new teacher as well as some new classmates from Porter's Point School. Each student has a friend from our class in their new class, which relieved a lot of anxiety! Right before we came back to UMS, all the second graders met in the gymnasium and did the "Paper Shake" dance with Mr. Hunt. We had a great time and everyone is very excited for third grade! Here is a picture of us just before we boarded our bus!
In your child's home/school folder today is a letter with their new teachers name!

Honey Bees
Yesterday, we had our last Four Winds opportunity of the year. Many parent volunteers worked together to put on a puppet show, and presented three different activites all about honey bees! The play was wonderful but I forgot to bring my camera.
:ater in the afternoon, the parents came to our classroom to present three different activities. The first activity was examining a deceased honey bee up close with a magnifying glass. It so was interesting, I forgot to take pictures again!! Shame on me!!
The second activity was dressing me up like a honey bee with all of the important "bee parts". The class had A LOT of fun with this activity!
In the last activity, the students pretended to do the "honey bee shake" to tell their honey bee friends where the pollen was. They had to find piles of pom-poms and hide one in their hand.. After they did their dance, their group had to figure out what color pollen theywere hiding.
It was a great day and everyone was amazing! Thank you so much Four Winds!!
