Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott visited UMS on Monday, April 11th. We were very excited to host him during our reading block! He spent half an hour in our classroom working on vocabulary with one of our reading groups. He had some very difficult words to talk about. Here are some pictures of the Lieutenant Governor's visit!
Grace, Megan, Hannah, and Brooke are reviewing what has happened in the story and they are catching the Lt. Governor up on their book The Storm.
It is also "5 A Day The Color Way" and today's healthy color was red! We were all able to try beets, red peppers, and apples at lunch time! You will notice that many classmates are wearing red!
Brooke and the Lt. Governor are working on sounding out a really hard word. They did some amazing vocabulary work together!
.
Here are the new vocabulary words that the girls worked on! Good job!! I was also so proud of the amazing behavior exhibited by ALL of my students during our special visit!

Housekeeping Notes
Here are just a few things I want to make you aware of as April vacation draws closer!
1. Next Wednesday, April 13th, we are performing the play The Bear Went Over the Mountain in the Colchester High School Auditorium. The play starts at 6:30 p.m.. Children are asked to wear their B.E.A.R tshirts that I currently have in my possession. I will send the tshirts home with your child on Wednesday afternoon.. More information will be coming home about the time that your child needs to arrive and where they should go. You can also direct any questions that you have to Ms. Mutz.
2. Next week, we are celebrating "5 A Day The Color Way" which promotes healthy eating from the fruit and vegetable groups. Each day the children will be asked to wear a different color and they will be offered a chance to try fruits and veggies that match the color of the day. Look at your menu for more information. Next week, we are also hosting a food drive and asking for donatations of fresh or canned fruit or veggies of your choice.
Monday -Red
Tuesday - Yellow/Orange
Wednesday - White
Thursday - Green
Friday - Blue/Purple
3. Next week is the last week of school before April break starts. School will be closed from Monday, April 18th through Friday, April 22nd. School will resume on Monday, April 25th. Have a great time with your family!

Blog advice
So I find that I am having a hard time coming up with "new" information to share with you on our blog. I would love any feedback, comments, or ideas that you have!! Feel free to write something in the comment section of the blog or email me directly at marshallc@csdvt.org. I have asked the children to help me come up with some ideas and I was amazed with how quickly they had some thoughts that never even crossed my mind! I am always so impressed with 7 and 8 year olds! Below is just the start of our new blog ideas!
